May has been another outstanding month so far for new music. I’m already running behind on new releases because there have been a few that I’ve listened to several times. And there are 52 more this week with several to look forward to.
Stand outs this week:
As The Sun Falls - Third album from Finnish melo death band. Melodic Death Metal and Finland is always a great combination I think.
Downfall of Nur - Second album from atmospheric black metal band out of Argentina. From their Bandcamp: “And the Firmament will Burn to Quench the Pain of this Earth unfolds as a profound reflection on the ancestral memory and deeply rooted symbols of Sardinia.”
Solipsism - Second album from Slovakian black metal band with negativity and melancholy. This one is darker than the debut album 4 years ago.
Barren Canyon - Third album 8 years on from atmospheric black metal band out of Canada. From their Bandcamp: “Taking the idea of “atmospheric metal” seriously and literally, A Virulent Stream draws both musically and lyrically upon themes of noxious air, suffocation, and the airborne contaminants of industrial society.”
