New Metal Releases December 19th 2025

A little lighter week this week with 28 releases. Things are starting to wind down for the end of the year, but I still have a few to look forward to.
Stand outs this week:
Weft - Project of Charlie Anderson, best known for violin, backing vocals and other contributions to Panopticon. This seems like a very interesting release with tons of atmosphere and black, death, doom and other influences.
Lychgate - 4th album from UK based avant-garde blackened death metal band. From their bandcamp, “LYCHGATE layer fusion riffs, leads and rhythms into skewed melodic entanglements which erupt into strident bludgeon - balefully contrasted with spacious, keyboard-led, classical/jazz-inflected passages rich with tension-heavy dynamics.”
Reign of Fear - Debut album melo death band out of the US. Sounds great from what I have heard so far. Fans of The Black Dahlia Murder should check this one out.
