French Groove Death Metal outfit SICKMIND has unveiled the official video for “New God”, offering the first glimpse into their upcoming full-length album, “Babel Tower”, due out October 9, 2026.

Formerly known as SILICIUM, SICKMIND operates within a dark and dystopian groove death metal universe shaped by themes of collapse, desolation, and a world on the brink of extinction. Drawing on post-apocalyptic imagery and an atmosphere of impending doom, the band’s music explores the darker side of a civilization pushed to its limits.

“New God” serves as a powerful introduction to the world of “Babel Tower”, combining crushing groove-driven riffs, dark atmospheres, and an uncompromising intensity. The accompanying video further brings SICKMIND’s dystopian vision to life, setting the tone for what promises to be the band’s most ambitious release to date.

The current lineup has revived SILICIUM, a band originally dating back to 2008, and began its new chapter by taking the stage as the opening act for Aephanemer. A sold-out show in Bordeaux in January 2023 marked the beginning of the new era for the band and laid the groundwork for what would become SICKMIND.

In 2024, the band recorded a new EP, released across all major streaming platforms in December, while continuing to build momentum on stage. Since 2025, the band has performed extensively across France, Spain, Portugal, and England, sharing stages at shows and festivals with acts including Eight Sins, Dagoba, Dygora, Gorod, and The Great Old Ones.

The band stated that this is "the coldest and most eerie track of the album. As it's the second to last track, thematically this one is about the closure of the cosmos in the endless cycle of creation and unmaking."

The track will be available via all major streaming services from Friday 7th August (pre-save), and follows the release of title track “Null Crowned the Infinite”.

Three years following the critically acclaimed “A Journey told through Fire” (2023), the new album navigates a sprawling conceptual narrative, tracing the cyclical nature of the cosmos from its initial spark in the void to its inevitable dissolution.

Lyrically, the album explores the terrifying scale of cosmic darkness and the fragility of existence within a primordial emptiness. Sworn investigates the philosophy of becoming and unmaking, where reality and time emerge from nothingness only to eventually collapse back into the same unfathomable origin. Musically, “Null Crowned the Infinite” pushes the boundaries of the band's established sound, balancing their signature melodic tension with newfound levels of aggression and atmospheric depth. The record features "The Starless Origin", a twelve-minute epic that stands as their longest composition to date, alongside "Fracture of Aeons", which the band identifies as their most aggressive track ever recorded.

Sworn collaborated with renowned producer Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, who handled the mixing and mastering. Bogren’s legendary portfolio, featuring giants such as Opeth, Arch Enemy and Behemoth, brings a polished yet devastating edge to the performances of Max Wilson, Christoffer Kjørsvik, Gøran Hope and Tom Ian Klungland. The album artwork is equally striking, created by Pär Olofsson, known for his iconic work with Aborted and Kreator.

While Sworn continues to operate as an independent entity for the recording and production, they have partnered with The Circle Music to handle the physical releases under a special licensing deal. The release includes a Digipak CD alongside two distinct vinyl variants: Marbled Smoke and Marbled Green.

Born from a cross-continental collaboration between Austria and Québec (Canada), Black Metal trio DÉTRESSE have announced their second full-length album, "Misères", set for release on October 9, 2026, via Vendetta Records. The announcement is accompanied by the release of the album's first single, "Verrottet", offering a first glimpse into the band's latest work.

Speaking about the track, the band comments: ''Verrottet is the first single from our upcoming album Misères. German for 'rotten', the title reflects the song's uncompromising vision of humanity at its core: corrupted, lost, and consumed by its own decay. With no hope of redemption, its only fate is an inevitable, self-inflicted demise.''

Following the foundation laid by their 2025 debut “Pessimismes”, “Misères” continues DÉTRESSE‘s uncompromising approach to Black Metal while pushing their sound further. The album deals with the misery of mankind and human hardship, exploring how oppression, deprivation, and despair shape everyday existence, blurring the boundaries between past and present. Following years of relentless evolution, New York’s avant-garde black metal visionaries KRALLICE have unveiled “Living Useless Ritual”, the first single from their forthcoming full-length album “Scour Order”, set for release on September 18 via Profound Lore Records. Pre-orders are available HERE.

With “Scour Order”, KRALLICE return to Profound Lore Records, the label that released the band’s first three albums, while revisiting aspects of their classic dual-guitar approach in a new chapter of their ever-evolving sound.

Formed in 2007 in Woodhaven, Queens, New York City, KRALLICE began as a collaboration between guitarists Colin Marston and Mick Barr, initially conceived as a black metal recording project. Following the release of their self-titled debut in 2008 with drummer Lev Weinstein, the project quickly evolved into a full band with the addition of Nicholas McMaster on bass and vocals.

Across twenty full-length albums and EPs, KRALLICE have continuously expanded the boundaries of black metal through dense, polyphonic compositions and an uncompromising spirit of experimentation. While their early releases established the band’s signature blend of technical precision and relentless intensity, subsequent works increasingly embraced atmospheric textures, unconventional songwriting, synthesizers, and shifting instrumental roles. Beginning with “Loum” in 2017, which introduced collaborations with Dave Edwardson (NEUROSIS), and continuing through the synth-heavy, lineup-shifting explorations of “Demonic Wealth” and its successors, KRALLICE steadily broadened their sonic identity without sacrificing the complexity at the core of their sound.

Now there is an album, and there has also been talk of making a proper band out of this at some point, but time will tell.

“ “Återfödd” (Swedish for “reborn”) sees Jotungrav embrace its folk metal roots more than on any other song from the band’s forthcoming album. It is largely inspired by Finnish folk music and waltzes, with time signatures that are less common in metal. As a fast and energetic song it features both uplifting melodies and majestic passages, some of which can be surprisingly danceable. The song is a rather noticeable departure from Jotungrav’s usual style, as on “Återfödd” all black metal inspiration has been stripped down and replaced by elements found in progressive melodic death metal. During its eight minute runtime the listener can hear hints of Wilderun, early Ensiferum and Finsterforst, as well as 2000’s and 2010’s folk metal in general. For the band this has struck a balance between respecting the origins of Jotungrav and progressing as a band. The song focuses on one theme alone: the indomitable human spirit. It is a reminder that the cruelty of the universe cannot break one that is filled with purpose and remains unyielding. The cover art for the single reflects the flipside of this, where the death of someone beloved isn’t just a one–sided rebirth, but a turning point for both parties. Here change happens through tragedy; one lives on in memories, while the other is changed for life.”

BIOGRAPHY:
Jotungrav is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Matias Stenman, which incorporates elements of black metal and folk metal within a progressive metal framework. The project got its initial start in 2015, but most of the material composed back then ended up being discarded. It was in the summer of 2022 when the single Drängen was finished when Jotungrav finally materialized, with the help of fellow Sargassus members Matias Rokio, who provided percussive arrangements to the song, as well as Teemu Leskinen, who took on the mixing and mastering duties. Initially Jotungrav was a slowly progressing musical effort, but with time the project managed to accumulate enough material for a second single, Ulven, while working on more material for future releases. Both musically and thematically Jotungrav draws inspiration from early 2000s–2010s viking/pagan metal scene and mythology. The lyrics have a philosophical and symbolic focus on humanity. The songs evolve into vast soundscapes while maintaining a raw and genuine feel to them, paying homage to the early days of folk metal. As Jotungravi has developed, the band has moved closer to progressive, melodic folk metal, with the black metal influences familiar to the band playing a smaller role in the music. On the latest album “Elegi,” the songs stretch into even longer and more dynamic epics that take the listener through wartorn landscapes of the ancient world.

Brazilian death metal band Ereboros releases “In the Depths of Misery,” the first single from the upcoming album From Oblivion to the Grave, due out independently on October 30.

“In the Depths of Misery” addresses social inequality, psychological control and the way fear and ignorance can become instruments of domination. At its core, the song deals with a form of imprisonment that does not depend on walls: the one created inside the human mind.

The track introduces the central themes of From Oblivion to the Grave, an album shaped by real experiences of suffering, anxiety, disillusionment and the search for meaning during periods of personal instability. Much of the material was influenced by difficult moments experienced by the band’s vocalist and drummer.

Musically, the album is built around aggressive death metal, heavy riffs and oppressive atmospheres, balanced by melodic sections that reinforce the emotional weight of the songs. Its ten tracks maintain a constant sense of tension, reflecting the psychological and emotional themes behind the lyrics.

Approach of the long awaited second album release of epic melodeath ambassador Ulthima is being announced with an opening single “White Raven”. From Monterrey Mexico, to Helsinki Finland, the band came to be known in the Finnish metal scene with their Debut album “Symphony of the Night” in 2021, and is set to release their second full album in the autumn of 2026.

“White Raven” explores the journey from fearing death to accepting it as a natural part of existence. Guided by the symbol of the White Raven, the song blends mythological imagery and reflection on mortality, portraying death not as an end, but as a passage into eternity.

The guitarist and composer Ric tells about the song: “White raven is one of the last songs I wrote for this album. It’s one of those that come out of nowhere with just one small riff and rapidly developed in a full length song. It always felt very organic while it was put together and definitely one of the best ones in the album.

Lyric wise I wanted a deep topic for it. While it is a bit cliche talking about death and all that, I felt it was a fitting for this song as it is something we can all relate to.

With this album, we set out to sharpen and define our identity as a band. Instead of pursuing a polished, overly perfected production, we embraced a rawer and more organic sound that captures the intensity and spirit of our music. We wanted the album to feel alive—heavy, aggressive, and honest—while preserving the human element that often gets lost in modern productions. The result is our most authentic release to date, a record that reflects who we are as musicians and delivers our vision with power, atmosphere, and conviction.”

Ulthima is a band that originated back in 2010 in Monterrey Mexico, the band went on hiatus until 2018 in Helsinki Finland. Where the band finally consolidated its members and finished their first full length album Symphony of the Night. In mid 2024 the band started the recording of their second full length album Midnight’s Call, which will be released in the fall of 2026.

BIOGRAPHY:
Beyond Seventh Dimension is an atmospheric metal project from Finland that started as a one-man instrumental project in 2025 and quickly escalated. Vocals were added to the concept right after the first song, and suddenly there was talk of an EP or a full-length album. Now there is an album, and there has also been talk of making a proper band out of this at some point, but time will tell.

Following the release of their debut record, "Upon the Edge of Darkness", South Australia’s Lumen Ad Mortem returns this summer with "A Grave Ascent" - a striking dose of ferocious black metal that balances perfectly between an energetic drive fueled by lightning-fast tremolo riffs and a mid-paced dirge drenched in atmosphere.

Crafting anthemic black metal with unrelenting intensity, these new offerings are chock-full of nefarious melodies, wrapped around rhythm guitars and bass that retain a malleable nature, ominous synth lines and drums that relentlessly drive the energy forward. Lyrically, the new album draws from the Australian wellspring of loss, death, and the undying spirit that refuses defeat, driven by an unrelenting force of cold and undeniable vengeance.

Bergen, Norway & Athens, Greece; 20 May 2026: Bergen-based melodic black metal outfit Sworn have announced that their fifth album, “Null Crowned the Infinite”, will be released on 4 September 2026. Pre-orders for the physical versions licensed to The Circle Music are available now.

Three years following the critically acclaimed “A Journey told through Fire” (2023), the new album navigates a sprawling conceptual narrative, tracing the cyclical nature of the cosmos from its initial spark in the void to its inevitable dissolution.

Lyrically, the album explores the terrifying scale of cosmic darkness and the fragility of existence within a primordial emptiness. Sworn investigates the philosophy of becoming and unmaking, where reality and time emerge from nothingness only to eventually collapse back into the same unfathomable origin. Musically, “Null Crowned the Infinite” pushes the boundaries of the band's established sound, balancing their signature melodic tension with newfound levels of aggression and atmospheric depth. The record features "The Starless Origin", a twelve-minute epic that stands as their longest composition to date, alongside "Fracture of Aeons", which the band identifies as their most aggressive track ever recorded.

Sworn collaborated with renowned producer Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, who handled the mixing and mastering. Bogren’s legendary portfolio, featuring giants such as Opeth, Arch Enemy and Behemoth, brings a polished yet devastating edge to the performances of Max Wilson, Christoffer Kjørsvik, Gøran Hope and Tom Ian Klungland. The album artwork is equally striking, created by Pär Olofsson, known for his iconic work with Aborted and Kreator.

While Sworn continues to operate as an independent entity for the recording and production, they have partnered with The Circle Music to handle the physical releases under a special licensing deal. BalashToth is the solo project of Balazs Toth, former guitarist of the Hungarian melodic death metal band Casketgarden. After moving to Ireland in 2012 and studying music production and mixing, he gradually turned the BalashToth name from a YouTube channel for riff challenges, covers, song recreations, gear reviews, and mixing guides into a full recording project of its own.

Following the 2023 EP Anti-Life, the 2024 EP =Equation=, and the =Anti-Life/Equation= compilation CD, BalashToth now arrives at its first full-length release. The previous EPs were well received, with Anti-Life named among the top Irish-based metal EPs of 2023 and the 2024 compilation appearing in several Hungarian year-end lists. The album also follows the 2025 Paradise Lost cover single “Mortals Watch the Day”.

Equation II - The Antithesis of Life and Free Will completes the Anti-Life Equation thread introduced on the earlier releases. Across eight full tracks and an atmospheric intermission built entirely around viola, the album explores different shades of melodic death metal, from the 280 BPM attack of “+Fear + Despair” to the old-school death metal feel of “Self = Dark Side” and the doomy closing track “x Judgement”, which features Adam Toth (Kajgün, ex-The Dethroners, Art of Dethronement) on viola. Lyrically, the record continues the themes of the previous EPs, but from a more personal and close-up perspective rather than the broader, catastrophic view of earlier material.

The first single, “÷ Misunderstanding”, leans into a more traditional melodic death metal sound, with uneasy timing shifts, a bleak atmosphere, and sorrowful vocals from Deathmetalvoicer. That collaboration began after Balazs and Deathmetalvoicer worked together on full-band covers for the BalashToth YouTube channel, including songs by The Haunted, Dimension Zero, Gates of Ishtar, Entombed, and Iron Maiden.

A second single/video, “Self = Dark Side”, follows on May 14, ahead of the album release on June 12.

“Self = Dark Side” is the second single and leans into a more groovy, old-school approach with a classic melodic death metal chorus. Lyrically, it explores the collapse of identity through endless desire, a cycle of consumption, illusion, and decay, where wanting never ends and satisfaction only deepens the void.

Polish black metal outfit Piołun returns with their second full-length album, “Exolvuntur”, set for release on 22 May 2026 via Malignant Voices.

On “Exolvuntur”, Piołun remains deeply inspired by the Scandinavian and Polish black metal scenes of the 90s, while incorporating a refined, contemporary edge. It follows the band’s 2022 debut, “Rzeki Goryczy”.

“Stylistically, it is a continuation of the preceding ‘Rzeki Goryczy’; however, it presents black metal that is more dynamic and melodic,” said the band’s founder, Sorh. “The album’s concept revolves around the cycle of life and death, referring to human transience in the face of ruthless nature. ‘Exolvuntur’ is a 37-minute journey where the wildness of traditional black metal intertwines with nostalgia and melancholy. Black metal for black metal fans.”

Sorh is widely recognised as XCIII, the guitarist for Blaze of Perdition, Oremus and Mānbryne. For this new chapter, the production was handled by one of Poland’s premier engineers, Haldor Grunberg, at Satanic Audio.

Spanish melodic death metal band BLOODHUNTER have revealed new details on their hotly-anticipated studio album, entitled “Sons Of The Abandoned”, that is set for release on June 12, 2026 via ROAR – A Division Of Reigning Phoenix Music. Pre-orders have started today.

Accompanying the album announcement, BLOODHUNTER step it up with the release of a music video for their latest single “Threshold Of Hell”, featuring Fernando Ribeiro of Portuguese dark metal legends MOONSPELL!
