Brazilian death metal band Ereboros releases “In the Depths of Misery,” the first single from the upcoming album From Oblivion to the Grave, due out independently on October 30.

“In the Depths of Misery” addresses social inequality, psychological control and the way fear and ignorance can become instruments of domination. At its core, the song deals with a form of imprisonment that does not depend on walls: the one created inside the human mind.

The track introduces the central themes of From Oblivion to the Grave, an album shaped by real experiences of suffering, anxiety, disillusionment and the search for meaning during periods of personal instability. Much of the material was influenced by difficult moments experienced by the band’s vocalist and drummer.

Musically, the album is built around aggressive death metal, heavy riffs and oppressive atmospheres, balanced by melodic sections that reinforce the emotional weight of the songs. Its ten tracks maintain a constant sense of tension, reflecting the psychological and emotional themes behind the lyrics.

Approach of the long awaited second album release of epic melodeath ambassador Ulthima is being announced with an opening single “White Raven”. From Monterrey Mexico, to Helsinki Finland, the band came to be known in the Finnish metal scene with their Debut album “Symphony of the Night” in 2021, and is set to release their second full album in the autumn of 2026.

“White Raven” explores the journey from fearing death to accepting it as a natural part of existence. Guided by the symbol of the White Raven, the song blends mythological imagery and reflection on mortality, portraying death not as an end, but as a passage into eternity.

The guitarist and composer Ric tells about the song: “White raven is one of the last songs I wrote for this album. It’s one of those that come out of nowhere with just one small riff and rapidly developed in a full length song. It always felt very organic while it was put together and definitely one of the best ones in the album.

Lyric wise I wanted a deep topic for it. While it is a bit cliche talking about death and all that, I felt it was a fitting for this song as it is something we can all relate to.

With this album, we set out to sharpen and define our identity as a band. Instead of pursuing a polished, overly perfected production, we embraced a rawer and more organic sound that captures the intensity and spirit of our music. We wanted the album to feel alive—heavy, aggressive, and honest—while preserving the human element that often gets lost in modern productions. The result is our most authentic release to date, a record that reflects who we are as musicians and delivers our vision with power, atmosphere, and conviction.”

Ulthima is a band that originated back in 2010 in Monterrey Mexico, the band went on hiatus until 2018 in Helsinki Finland. Where the band finally consolidated its members and finished their first full length album Symphony of the Night. In mid 2024 the band started the recording of their second full length album Midnight’s Call, which will be released in the fall of 2026.

Now there is an album, and there has also been talk of making a proper band out of this at some point, but time will tell.

Following the release of their debut record, "Upon the Edge of Darkness", South Australia’s Lumen Ad Mortem returns this summer with "A Grave Ascent" - a striking dose of ferocious black metal that balances perfectly between an energetic drive fueled by lightning-fast tremolo riffs and a mid-paced dirge drenched in atmosphere.

Crafting anthemic black metal with unrelenting intensity, these new offerings are chock-full of nefarious melodies, wrapped around rhythm guitars and bass that retain a malleable nature, ominous synth lines and drums that relentlessly drive the energy forward. Three years following the critically acclaimed “A Journey told through Fire” (2023), the new album navigates a sprawling conceptual narrative, tracing the cyclical nature of the cosmos from its initial spark in the void to its inevitable dissolution.

Lyrically, the album explores the terrifying scale of cosmic darkness and the fragility of existence within a primordial emptiness. Sworn investigates the philosophy of becoming and unmaking, where reality and time emerge from nothingness only to eventually collapse back into the same unfathomable origin. Musically, “Null Crowned the Infinite” pushes the boundaries of the band's established sound, balancing their signature melodic tension with newfound levels of aggression and atmospheric depth. BalashToth is the solo project of Balazs Toth, former guitarist of the Hungarian melodic death metal band Casketgarden. After moving to Ireland in 2012 and studying music production and mixing, he gradually turned the BalashToth name from a YouTube channel for riff challenges, covers, song recreations, gear reviews, and mixing guides into a full recording project of its own.

Following the 2023 EP Anti-Life, the 2024 EP =Equation=, and the =Anti-Life/Equation= compilation CD, BalashToth now arrives at its first full-length release. The previous EPs were well received, with Anti-Life named among the top Irish-based metal EPs of 2023 and the 2024 compilation appearing in several Hungarian year-end lists. The album also follows the 2025 Paradise Lost cover single “Mortals Watch the Day”.

Equation II - The Antithesis of Life and Free Will completes the Anti-Life Equation thread introduced on the earlier releases. Across eight full tracks and an atmospheric intermission built entirely around viola, the album explores different shades of melodic death metal, from the 280 BPM attack of “+Fear + Despair” to the old-school death metal feel of “Self = Dark Side” and the doomy closing track “x Judgement”, which features Adam Toth (Kajgün, ex-The Dethroners, Art of Dethronement) on viola. Lyrically, the record continues the themes of the previous EPs, but from a more personal and close-up perspective rather than the broader, catastrophic view of earlier material.

The first single, “÷ Misunderstanding”, leans into a more traditional melodic death metal sound, with uneasy timing shifts, a bleak atmosphere, and sorrowful vocals from Deathmetalvoicer. That collaboration began after Balazs and Deathmetalvoicer worked together on full-band covers for the BalashToth YouTube channel, including songs by The Haunted, Dimension Zero, Gates of Ishtar, Entombed, and Iron Maiden.

A second single/video, “Self = Dark Side”, follows on May 14, ahead of the album release on June 12.

“Self = Dark Side” is the second single and leans into a more groovy, old-school approach with a classic melodic death metal chorus. Lyrically, it explores the collapse of identity through endless desire, a cycle of consumption, illusion, and decay, where wanting never ends and satisfaction only deepens the void.

Polish black metal outfit Piołun returns with their second full-length album, “Exolvuntur”, set for release on 22 May 2026 via Malignant Voices.

On “Exolvuntur”, Piołun remains deeply inspired by the Scandinavian and Polish black metal scenes of the 90s, while incorporating a refined, contemporary edge. It follows the band’s 2022 debut, “Rzeki Goryczy”.

“Stylistically, it is a continuation of the preceding ‘Rzeki Goryczy’; however, it presents black metal that is more dynamic and melodic,” said the band’s founder, Sorh. “The album’s concept revolves around the cycle of life and death, referring to human transience in the face of ruthless nature. ‘Exolvuntur’ is a 37-minute journey where the wildness of traditional black metal intertwines with nostalgia and melancholy. Fyrdsman is the solo vision of Tim Shaw, drawing together romanticism, history, and English folklore into a distinct form of black metal rooted in the spirit of its homeland. Spanish melodic death metal band BLOODHUNTER have revealed new details on their hotly-anticipated studio album, entitled “Sons Of The Abandoned”, that is set for release on June 12, 2026 via ROAR – A Division Of Reigning Phoenix Music. Pre-orders have started today.

Accompanying the album announcement, BLOODHUNTER step it up with the release of a music video for their latest single “Threshold Of Hell”, featuring Fernando Ribeiro of Portuguese dark metal legends MOONSPELL! Leaning on crushing riffs, a commanding groove, brutal vocals and a dense, shadowy atmosphere, the track is elevated by Ribeiro’s unmistakable voice, adding depth and gravitas.

Guitarist Dani Arcos comments: “I think it’s the most complete song on the album. We worked really hard on it, both musically and in terms of sound effects, the collaboration with Fernando Ribeiro... and it also has a great groove.”

Vocalist Diva Satanica adds: “It’s an anti-war song that dissects the mysteries of human behaviour and how it seems we didn’t evolve at all, making the same mistakes of the past. We wanted to emphasize this contradiction of being an anti-war song but using the typical sounds in this context, so we created our own military march shaking some spoons inside of a cooking pot (there is even a video of us recording it).”

The long-established German death metal ensemble FLESHCRAWL has signed a worldwide deal with Distortion Music Group (DMG) - Powered by Reigning Phoenix Music. The signing marks a new chapter as the band prepares to unveil their tenth studio album, Epitome of Carnage on June 12, 2026. FLESHCRAWL‘s obliterating new single “Blood Dominion”marks the first release under this collaboration, following a series of prior releases that saw select DMG roster artists issued via Reigning Phoenix Music.

On the single release, FLESHCRAWL comments: “Choosing ‘Blood Dominion’ as our first single is a statement. It is the ultimate teaser for what this album delivers: no mercy. It captures the very essence of FLESHCRAWL - fast, raw, and straight to the point. About THE BAND:

FLESHCRAWL was founded in the spring of 1987 in Illertissen, Germany, by Stefan Hanus and Bastian Herzog. Initially operating under the name Morgöth, the band adopted a markedly more extreme musical direction in 1990 and briefly performed as Suffocation. However, with the emergence of the American band of the same name and their impending vinyl debut, another name change became necessary. Thus, FLESHCRAWL was born.

Through decades of evolution, challenges, and perseverance, FLESHCRAWL has remained steadfast in its mission: delivering uncompromising, traditional death metal with authenticity, power, and unwavering conviction. In 2020, with a completely renewed and revitalized guitar lineup, the band entered the first songwriting sessions for their tenth studio album.

On June 11th, 2021, long-time vocalist Sven “Svenson” Gross passed away after a courageous battle with cancer that lasted over a year. His loss was a profound tragedy, deeply felt by his family, friends, and the entire FLESHCRAWL community. Despite this immense personal and professional blow, stepping back from their mission in death metal was never an option. The band began the search for a new voice to carry their legacy forward, and on October 15th, 2021, Borisz Sarafutgyinov was officially announced as FLESHCRAWL’s new and permanent frontman, ushering in a new chapter for the band.

Songwriting continued steadily throughout 2023, 2024, and into 2025, while the band maintained a strong live presence, performing at further renowned events such as Metal Gate Czech Deathfest, Hell over Aschaffenburg, Nice to Eat You Deathfest, Eindhoven Metal Meeting, Bucharest Deathfest, Heidelberg Metal Meeting, Braincrusher in Hell, Sick Midsummer, and the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise.

By 2025, songwriting for the successor to Into the Catacombs of Flesh (2019) was nearing completion. The band found a strong and capable new partner in Reigning Phoenix Music, securing a new label home for the release of Epitome of Carnage. In November 2025 FLESHCRAWL signed a worldwide deal with DMG.

Barcelona-based atmospheric black metal outfit SOTABOSC unveil “Freyja”, the second single from their forthcoming debut full-length “El Batec dels Maquis”, set for release on April 17 via Dunk!Records. Following the sprawling intensity of their first single, the band delivers a track that fuses mythological symbolism with historical memory into a deeply evocative composition.

“Freyja” started life as an instrumental piece for Ulmus, the solo project of SOTABOSC’s Xavi Forné, inspired by the Norse goddess. In its reinterpretation, the concept shifts into the context of the Maquis, where Freyja becomes a metaphor for the women of the resistance. Like the goddess - associated with war, death, and fertility - these women embody strength, care, and determination amidst conflict. Not as a distant myth, but as a real, silenced, and essential presence.

Founded in 2023 in Barcelona by Oscar Linares and Manel Song (Syberia) alongside Xavi Forné (Ulmus, Error! “El Batec dels Maquis” unfolds in two halves - The first reimagines three compositions from Ulmus, originally instrumental and written for acoustic instruments, now transformed into a sound shaped by atmospheric black metal with strong post-rock influences. The new lyrics focus on animals, forests and the natural environment, forming a narrative arc that connects with the second half of the album.

The second part consists of a single track exceeding 15 minutes, where SOTABOSC expresses its purest musical identity: raw black metal roots, expansive instrumental passages and experimental structures inspired by post-rock. The vocals - harsh and evocative - pay tribute to the Maquis and their anti-Francoist resistance in Catalonia during and after the Civil War.

With this debut, SOTABOSC establishes a project in which identity, narrative intent and sonic depth merge into an artistic statement that is both musical and political.

“El Batec dels Maquis” was recorded, mixed and mastered at Siete Barbas Studio in Barcelona by Daniel Gil, with layout design handled by Error! Design and symbology created by Woodcvtter Illustration.

­Numento’s brand-new single, “The Extortionist” is inspired by countless true crime stories in which a person who initially appears kind and warm-hearted gradually transforms into a dangerous manipulator whose goal is to secretly extort benefits from their victim in order to boost their own reputation and self-esteem. On the surface, they appear innocent and friendly to everyone, but beneath the surface, a nightmarish plot simmers. They are a bloodthirsty predator who will stop at nothing to get what they want, and they are even willing to kill to avoid getting caught.

Numento, who has also previously incorporated the Finnish national instrument kantele into their music, introduces a new sonic element with this track: the distorted kantele, which has already amazed both audiences and sound engineers at live shows. Thanks to the distortion effect, the kantele’s already eerie sound takes on even more ominous and downright haunting tones on “The Extortionist” — ones that few have heard before.

“The Extortionist” once again showcases Numento’s signature style of blending influences from various metal subgenres and shifting moods as dictated by the song’s narrative, but this time with a more polished and daring approach. The song features even greater contrasts, ranging from delicate, evocative verses and a catchy, melodic chorus to a C-section that escalates into full-blown blast beats, unleashing fury with the combined power of three vocalists.

The music video for the song represents the band’s most ambitious and professionally executed production to date, created by an international team of dozens of people. The music video was filmed in Espoo at the cultural-historical setting of Finns Folk High School, and the production was overseen by producer and cinematographer Eino Antonio Leskinen, who has been involved in numerous productions. “The whole band is incredibly pleased with how director Adàn Mendoza captured the spirit of ‘The Extortionist’ and translated the song into a visual form,” commented Numento guitarist Aleksi Vehmassalo.

Born out of five years of creative searching, doubt and ultimate rediscovery, the album marks a powerful return for the band. Fernando Ribeiro comments on the track:
“I lost my faith and hope in vampires for quite a few years.
They became the clowns of Hollywood, the cheap Halloween shop customs, the old and disgraceful Princes from the East. Until the film director Robert Eggers brought us Nosferatu in 2024 and I was immediately attracted back to that tragic, romantic character who Bram Stoker immortalised in his letters. I wrote Far from God in just one breath and it’s our first song about vampiric love in ages. I confess I felt the urge of, together with Moonspell, saving the face of Gothic Metal which became hostage of semi-tuned operatic female vocalists, simpleton and crunchy guitar riffs; and of lyrical content that would make Dracula impale himself with a stake in his bloodless heart. This song is the essence of this album, its title, its video, its soul. And you can even feel the fire of daylight burning into yours and your lover’s skin.”

Thematically, Far From God moves through Baudelairian love, existential guilt and redemption, Christlike resurrections and the quiet nobility of creatures of the night. Vampires, werewolves and sacred symbolism are not escapism here, but vehicles for genuine dark emotion: solemn, romantic and unfiltered. The album rejects artificial gloss in favour of fantasy grounded in sincerity, rediscovering the heart of Gothic Metal in its most authentic form.

“To create Far from God we had to wait for the muse,” Ribeiro admits. “Again, she didn’t failed us and revealed herself in the most mysterious and beautiful ways to us.

It took us five long years of hit and miss, of despairing to the point of thinking we didn’t have it anymore and why should we at all create new music. But I’m glad we persisted. Far from God is a true crusade against the decline of the style in the past few years, a darkly crafted statement that Moonspell is here to stay and to claim our throne. Formed in 2017, Forlorn Citadel is the Australian one-man project of multi-instrumentalist Solace (Matthew Bell). Drawing on fantasy lore, medieval history, and the influence of bands such as Summoning and Caladan Brood, the project has built a distinct sound rooted in epic black metal and dungeon synth. In 2026, Forlorn Citadel will appear live for the first time, joined by session members.

Conceived and created in solitude, “An Oath Undone” is presented as a work centered on decay, memory, and the gradual erosion of purpose. Its songs move through a world shaped by medieval ruin, restraint, and absence, following the slow collapse of ideals and the hollow weight they leave behind. Rather than offering resolution, the album lingers in suspension, turning inward and holding to an atmosphere where honor survives only as echo and ash.
